As an educator, entrepreneur, social work technician and mother, I strive daily to make a positive impact on the lives of others by developing and implementing high quality programs, planning activities, writing articles that pertain to women, children and families in our society through seminars and workshops, as well as motivational speaking and personal coaching.
Born and raised in the City of Detroit, I have been exposed to a great deal. Always possessing an interest in learning, I have read a countless number of books and wrote many manuscripts. Throughout my childhood my family traveled, exposing me to other places, people, and cultures. As an adult I have continued to travel on a regular basis and like to refer to myself as a life-long learner. I believe that we all can learn from one another and I never pass an opportunity to gain and/or share knowledge.
At a very young age I became fascinated with people and the way they live. This led me into a variety of careers, including nursing, cosmetology, social work, business and, later, early childhood education. My work in the field of Social Work brought about a firsthand experience of the social challenges that face our community. I realized that I cannot help everyone - nor solve all problems - but I am missioned to make a difference. To date, I continue to search for community awareness and solutions to the problems that women face.
I have served our mentally challenged citizens for more than ten years, working as a coordinator in the Fairweather Program, a residential and vocational program for persons with mental illnesses. I have owned and operated my own business since January 1994. I have served as President of IMG Franchise Learning Centers, Inc., IMG Training and Consulting, Inner Reflections Empowerment Association, Inc. and currently IMG Development Agency, Inc. I am also a Certified Travel Consultant.
I demonstrate my love for mankind in all that I do and am an active advocate for all. I am a born leader who is able to think on her feet, motivate her team and accomplish goals. My determination to make a difference is precisely written in my personal and professional mission statements.
I have been a motivation to many and a highly self-motivated and a role model to my peers. I am currently a motivational speaker. On July 28, 2000, my business went up in smoke following a building fire. I later purchased another facility that would lead into a downward spiral with many code violations and lots of red tape to go along with it which led to a chain of events that would change me forever. I have faced repossessions, foreclosure, bankruptcy and a battle with depression. But, today, I am a living testimony that life will kick you "square in the behind," but you have to keep getting up.
I always say, "If you wake up, you can look up, stand up, speak up and thus you can move up!"
